U.S. Open – Let the Shopping Begin

Posted by Christine Monteith On June - 11 - 2010

Just had to drop by and pick up a Father’s Day gift for my golf addicted Dad who I’m sure will be glued to the TV next weekend. While I’ll be holding homes open in Pacific Grove wondering if any of these golf fans would like to own a little piece of golf heaven.

PG “Shoefiti”

Shoefiti

Shoefiti

Pacific Groveis a quiet, little town that sits on a small outcrop of rock along the central coast of California. It exists in the shadows of its more famous neighbors, Carmel and Pebble Beach. You don’t see much Shoefiti around here. Yesterday, my broker took this photo of her new listing. There are many theories on the motivation for “shoefiti.” There is an elementary and middle school nearby, my conclusion is some student needs a new pair of shoes.

The AT&T is here

Green on 7, Spyglass

Green on 7, Spyglass

The banks of audience seating are set up, the yards and yards of white plastic canvas are assembled into huge tents, miles of fencing and nylon rope are strung along the roads and the day is here.
I was cruising back from the barn this afternoon and caught these players finishing up on the 7th hole at Spyglass.
A good friend who has lived through the AT&T experience for many years notes that the build up seems more subdued this year. Could the economy be affecting this premier event. One notable absence is the promotional cars. Usually there are fleets of Buicks or Chryslers or whatever the sponsor cruising around. I guess the car companies have cutback.

The AT&T is coming…

Just a week away ’til the tee-off for big event formerly known as “The Crosby”. For those of you who know that Bing was known around here for more than his singing career.

Blossom Cove, Pebble Beach

Blossom Cove, Pebble Beach

Had the chance to see a classic Pebble Beach estate today, Blossom Cove listed for a mere $31million. The house is an original Craftsman with claw foot bath tubs and will probably be scraped by the new owner.
Stillwater Cove

Stillwater Cove

The house may be classic but the views are timeless…panoramic from The Lodge at Pebble Beach all the way to Pt. Lobos. There’s an old wood deck down at the water’s edge. You can see all the hospitality tents and viewing stands at the 18th hole.
